This injury affects an area of tissue at the top of the shoulder called the labrum. The labrum is a ring-like tissue around the shoulder joint that further stabilizes the joint.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SLAP lesions are usually caused by repetitive shoulder movements, overuse, falls or traumatic events. Symptoms of SLAP lesions may include shoulder pain, weakness, a feeling of instability and limited movement of the shoulder. Also, &#8220;pop&#8221; or &#8220;kip&#8221; sounds can be heard during shoulder movements.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SLAP lesions are usually diagnosed by physical examination and imaging tests (e.g. magnetic resonance imaging &#8211; MRI). Treatment options may vary depending on the severity of the lesion and the patient&#8217;s symptoms. Treatment options may include medication (painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs), physical therapy, rehabilitation, injections into the shoulder joint and surgery.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If SLAP lesions are left untreated, symptoms can persist and affect the mobility of the shoulder. Therefore, it is important to consult a specialist if a SLAP lesion is diagnosed and symptoms go untreated. The treatment plan is adapted to the patient&#8217;s individual characteristics, severity of the lesion and age. In cases requiring surgery, it is performed by an orthopedic surgeon and the rehabilitation process after surgery helps the patient recover.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you for reading our article.
